'The conjuring 2' - Horror Trailer:

'The conjuring 2'
Horror Trailer:

The trailer begins with a long shot of a table and three people sat around it. There is a vicar who is sat with them and they are listening to a recording of someone talking. The person talking sounds old and sounds scary. This suggests that the person is haunting the house and the vicar is there to try and find out who the person is and why they are there haunting this innocent family. This conforms to the expectations of an opening scene of a horror trailer because it makes the audience intrigued and makes them want to know what the ghost is doing to them and who it is. The vicar then goes on to explain that the voice is coming from an 11 year old girl. A medium shot is used as the couple look at each other which shocked expressions.

The scene changes to a long shot of a busy street and zooms into a close up of a paper which has the title on the front "The house of strange happenings" the non diegetic dialogue sounds like a news reader explaining whats happened and that the family need help. "the things in which we have seen, nothing rattles either of us anymore" this suggests that the familly have been through so much and has been a very long and terrifiying journey. "but this one, this one still haunts me" this suggests that it has gotten so bad that they need professional help and they need to get out of the house immediately.

A close up of a young girl is shown and the mother asks if the voice is coming from inside her and she explains it sounds like its coming from behind her. This suggests that this has never happened before and that they are all very scared. The scene then changes to a room full of people. "Janet are you alright" the young girls voice goes deep, like the recording "STOP CALLING ME JANET" and all the light go out. A close up is then used as the girl smiles and laughs. A long shot is then used as the mother begins to cry. The scene then changes "shes such a good girl what does i want with her?" The scene changes again to the girl in a different room and all the crosses on the wall begin to turn. A lady then describes that the thing inside her wants her to do something bad, either murder, suicide or both. All of the crosses turn and something jumps out of the wall, this scaring the audience.

"You believe us don't you?" "i do not sense anything" this suggests that the horrible thing inside there daughter has a hidden identity. "All i can sense is fear" this suggests that they are scared of something that maybe is not there? "MUM MUM THERE'S SOMETHING IN HERE" "I CAN'T OPEN IT" the scene changes very dramatically as the girl is stuck inside her room with something evil and they can't get to her. The scene then changes to a church singing on TV this is suggesting someones death.

There's Something About Mary Trailer: (Comedy Genre)

There's Something About Mary:

The trailer starts with a medium shot of a girl and a boy who are talking to each other about going to prom together, they both seem very shy and stereo-typically 'geeky'. Shot reverse shot is used as the two characters discuss who is going with who and what is happening. The song 'close to you' plays as the boy looks at the two white doves sitting on a tree. This also suggests that two white doves are lucky. A close up shot is then used of the boy as non diegetic sound of his voice plays over the close up of his face. He has braces which is a very big part of his face and also adds the 'geekiness' to his personality. A screech happens and the birds fall from the tree and as they do a long shot is used of the girl he is taking to prom as she is getting changed and is revealed in her underwear. The camera then shoots back to the boy who looks shocked and didn't mean to be looking at the window. The mother covers her up and moves her away. This conforms to a comedy trailer because everything seems to be going wrong. A medium shot is used as the boy catches his private parts in the zip of his trousers, this meaning that he is in lots of pain, so much that an ambulance is called and he is taken to hospital.

A title comes up on the screen '13 years later' the boy had now grown up but admits he still has a 'crush' on the same girl he was going to take to prom. The same shot is used again as the couple meet. A medium shot is used as they catch up. A montage is shown of different men saying they all 'fancy' Mary. They all describe her as a 'fox' and thats where the title of the film connects with the men, 'Theres something about Mary'.

A montage of different shots appear, the man who is trying to win Mary's heart does everything he can to do so. Her mother explains that if the dog likes him then hes a keeper. The man continues to drug the dog so he is relaxed on him, meaning the dog likes him. A long shot is then used as the dog dies and the man uses the lamps wire to bring him back to life. The trailer conforms to the stereotypes of a comedy trailer because everything which is done is comical but is also realistic meaning that some people might be able to connect with it.

'The Descent (2005)' - Horror Trailer:

Horror Trailer:
The purge:

The Trailer for "The Purge" starts with non dietetic sound, it is very sad music as the audience are introduced to a family in a very happy setting. The film does start the way the audience expect because it isn't scary to begin with but everyone knows that it is obvious that it will not last and the film will begin to get scarier. This adds tension to the trailer because the audience will be worried that something is going to jump out and shock them. The way the trailer starts is a very common convention to a horror trailer, this is because the producer of the film wants the audience to feel relaxed and it also suggests that something horrible is about to happen to a nice, normal family and this makes it realistic. The non diegetic sound then changes to a more upbeat and panicked feeling, the audience will begin to worry about what is going to happen to the nice family. Non diegetic sound is used again as the audience here a siren, this implyes that something bad is going to happen as help is on the way but will they get there in time? This is a question which will be on the audiences minds. The diegetic sound which is shown to be coming from a boy asking "why don't you kill someone tonight" this could add confusion to the trailer and add fear to the trailer.

There is always a protagonist in a horror trailer/film. In this trailer the protagonist makes his appearance screaming for help. Titles appear on the screen and non diegetic sound is used of a doorbell, this suggests that someone is needed who is inside the house of the doorbell. The antagonist then makes his appearance, he is wearing a mask, this conforms to the horror genre because he is hiding his identity. The non diegetic dialogue causes a lot of tension and would make the audience feel on edge and wonder what they would do in this situation. The non diegetic music changes, it is very peaceful, like someone humming or singing, this could suggest a church is near, also suggesting someone is going to die and be sent to heaven with the music where they can be put to rest. The non diegetic sound builds up and a montage if blood, violence, revenge and death is shown. This conforms to the horror genre and makes the audience feel very uncomfortable. Although this is the case the target audience will like this and will enjoy the tension.

A long shot is then shown of a family, the setting is a very stereo-typically family destination, where the family are away having a peaceful trip. The scene then cuts to the inside of the house and is again a very stereotypical family house. Close up shots are shown of the family individually as they look happy. This is very stereotypical of horror film because they show a happy family and something bad has to happen. A long shot is shown of the empty street, where nothing is surrounding them, meaning when they need help nothing will be there to help them. A close up is then shown of the family again and their emotions have changed, something bad has happened. Another close up is shown as the mother holds the little boys hand, this emphasises on how scared they are and how she wants to protect them. A low angle shot looking up at the father suggests he is in charge. A long shot is shown as the mother and son lay on the floor together trying to hide, this suggests they are really scared. This low angle shot of the father also suggests he has not met the antagonist yet meaning he isn't threatened and is still the most powerful.

'Q' magazine cover analysis:

'Q' magazine cover analysis:

Q magazine is a music based magazine, it is published monthly in the United Kingdom. Q magazine features many different genres of music from the past decades as well as the music made today.

The Masthead of the magazine is located in the top left hand corner page, it is quite big and takes up about a third of the page. The masthead stands out massively because of the colours red and white as they are contrasting colour. Having the "Q" title also allows it to be bigger and doesn't make it an awkward shape. The colour red does take away some attention from the main photograph of 'Florence' because her hair is a lighter red/ginger colour which means is doesn't stand out as much as the bright red does, meaning the masthead takes away some attention.

The titles at the side of the page are all in white front, this allows them all to stand out and it shows the target audience what the magazine contains and it will encourage them to read or buy the magazine. "16 page special" this shows the target audience what the magazine contains. the word GAP is in capitals which suggests it has been done to make it stand out.The main image is a close up of Florence who is a famous singer and is very well known, suggesting that fans will be interested and drawn into this magazine. The positioning of the photograph is centre of the magazine and the sell lines are placed around the outside of the photograph. The pale colour of her skin suggests purity which relates to the purity of the music contained within the Q magazine.

"I feel so alone" this is a pull quote which appeals to the target audience because it suggests that there is going to be an interview from Florence. This makes Q magazine quite personal suggesting that Florence is being truthful about her feelings and her emotions. The word "alone" would also make the reader a lot more interesting because it suggests that Florence is sad and she wants more people in  her life.

The main title "FLORENCE WOMEN ON THE EDGE" is in capital letters and is very bold and big which makes it very visible and would encourage the audience to see the magazine whilst it is with other magazines. By positioning the title at the top of the magazine and have it in bigger font, it allows the audience to see it a lot more clearer.

'Go' magazine cover analysis:

'Go' magazine cover analysis:

The background of this 'GO' magazine is very basic, the light grey colour suggests that the front cover of this magazine is very sophisticated and wants the audience to focus on the model in the front cover, rather than have bright colours which would take the attention away from the model and the titles on the sides. It is suggested that the target audience for this magazine is a younger audience because of the very popular artist is on the front of the magazine, therefore meaning the magazine although this could be suggested it could also mean that it will increase the magazines chance of having a wider audience because the famous artist is 'Justin Beiber' and he has a huge fan base which follow his every move, meaning they will most likely want to buy this magazine to find out more about him. Justin Beiber is also looking very sophisticated and smart this could suggest the magazine would link to a female and male audience because they want to find out about his fashion choices.

The magazine GO in itself is a quite a popular magazine which is generally read by a female audience, this is generally because stereotypically women read magazines more than men do and 'Go' magazine expresses a lot of detail about different fashions.  A female audience also believe they have expectations to live up to, meaning they would be more encouraged to read this magazine.

The title of the magazine 'Go' is slightly hidden behind the models head, although this is the case the bold lettering allows it to stand out and because it is only two letters it is clear what the word says. The font colour is written in gold and grey which suggests that the magazine is a very classy and is seen to be an expensive magazines.
