There's Something About Mary:
The trailer starts with a medium shot of a girl and a boy who are talking to each other about going to prom together, they both seem very shy and stereo-typically 'geeky'. Shot reverse shot is used as the two characters discuss who is going with who and what is happening. The song 'close to you' plays as the boy looks at the two white doves sitting on a tree. This also suggests that two white doves are lucky. A close up shot is then used of the boy as non diegetic sound of his voice plays over the close up of his face. He has braces which is a very big part of his face and also adds the 'geekiness' to his personality. A screech happens and the birds fall from the tree and as they do a long shot is used of the girl he is taking to prom as she is getting changed and is revealed in her underwear. The camera then shoots back to the boy who looks shocked and didn't mean to be looking at the window. The mother covers her up and moves her away. This conforms to a comedy trailer because everything seems to be going wrong. A medium shot is used as the boy catches his private parts in the zip of his trousers, this meaning that he is in lots of pain, so much that an ambulance is called and he is taken to hospital.
A title comes up on the screen '13 years later' the boy had now grown up but admits he still has a 'crush' on the same girl he was going to take to prom. The same shot is used again as the couple meet. A medium shot is used as they catch up. A montage is shown of different men saying they all 'fancy' Mary. They all describe her as a 'fox' and thats where the title of the film connects with the men, 'Theres something about Mary'.
A montage of different shots appear, the man who is trying to win Mary's heart does everything he can to do so. Her mother explains that if the dog likes him then hes a keeper. The man continues to drug the dog so he is relaxed on him, meaning the dog likes him. A long shot is then used as the dog dies and the man uses the lamps wire to bring him back to life. The trailer conforms to the stereotypes of a comedy trailer because everything which is done is comical but is also realistic meaning that some people might be able to connect with it.
