'Q' magazine cover analysis:

'Q' magazine cover analysis:

Q magazine is a music based magazine, it is published monthly in the United Kingdom. Q magazine features many different genres of music from the past decades as well as the music made today.

The Masthead of the magazine is located in the top left hand corner page, it is quite big and takes up about a third of the page. The masthead stands out massively because of the colours red and white as they are contrasting colour. Having the "Q" title also allows it to be bigger and doesn't make it an awkward shape. The colour red does take away some attention from the main photograph of 'Florence' because her hair is a lighter red/ginger colour which means is doesn't stand out as much as the bright red does, meaning the masthead takes away some attention.

The titles at the side of the page are all in white front, this allows them all to stand out and it shows the target audience what the magazine contains and it will encourage them to read or buy the magazine. "16 page special" this shows the target audience what the magazine contains. the word GAP is in capitals which suggests it has been done to make it stand out.The main image is a close up of Florence who is a famous singer and is very well known, suggesting that fans will be interested and drawn into this magazine. The positioning of the photograph is centre of the magazine and the sell lines are placed around the outside of the photograph. The pale colour of her skin suggests purity which relates to the purity of the music contained within the Q magazine.

"I feel so alone" this is a pull quote which appeals to the target audience because it suggests that there is going to be an interview from Florence. This makes Q magazine quite personal suggesting that Florence is being truthful about her feelings and her emotions. The word "alone" would also make the reader a lot more interesting because it suggests that Florence is sad and she wants more people in  her life.

The main title "FLORENCE WOMEN ON THE EDGE" is in capital letters and is very bold and big which makes it very visible and would encourage the audience to see the magazine whilst it is with other magazines. By positioning the title at the top of the magazine and have it in bigger font, it allows the audience to see it a lot more clearer.
