Hot Fuzz Trailer: (Comedy Trailer)

Hot Fuzz Trailer:
Comedy Trailer

Hot Fuzz is a really good example of a comedy trailer, this is because it is mocking the
police force. This is suggested by the crimes they get given and the way the main actor's partner is quite stupid. This trailer also conforms to the way a trailer should be, this is because it doesn't give enough information away for the audience to know the whole story-line. Although it does suggest that the film is going to funny and it is worth going to see, this makes the trailer successful.

The audience start with being introduced to the main actor, a close up is used of his feet as he walks towards the camera. This gives the impression that he is going to be very forceful and is a very powerful man. This conforms to the stereotype of policemen not being scared of anything. Although this is the case the non-diegetic sound used is very childish which suggests the mans feet the audience are being shown isn't the type of policemen in which they are stereo-typically expecting. A close up is then used of his face which shows a very angry expression, this suggests he does conform to the stereotype of the manly expression in which they should give off. A close up is then used of his ID badge, this shows his name 'Nicholas Angel' this could suggest that he is going to be mocked throughout his career as it is suggested that policemen are called by their surnames and his surname is 'Angel'. This subverts to the manly effect in which a policeman should have and the people he could be arresting might being to mock him about his surname. The non-diegetic sound also takes away the serious of the policeman because there is an voice over which is describing the policeman which suggests he cant do it for himself. The editing used is very quick and changes quickly.

A montage of different shots are shown of 'Nicholas Angel' as he is travelling to the next crime he is going to solve. A long shot is then used of the country side, this suggests that he has been sent to a place where there is little crime and it conforms to our idea of a comedy because he is meant to be a high end police officer and he's been sent on a mission where nothing is going to happen. Another montage is then used with a voice over explaining that not a lot happens in the villiage they are in and a medium shot is used of his partner who is slightly over weight, suggesting he doesn't solve crimes because he is over weight and he sits and eats all day, suggesting he does no exercise.

'Three people have died in a week' crimes begin to happen and 'Angel' takes it upon himself to fix the issue, whereas everyone else think it is a joke and one police lady suggests that accidents happen. This adds a comical effect to the trailer and suggests that if you enjoy comical crime films then this will appeal to you. A medium shot is used as we see a man fall flat on his face in mud which also adds a comical effect as it suggests the officer is very clumsy. A long shot is used as we see cars drive and shoot at one another and we see that they miss every time. This suggests that they are very unprepared for crime and are very untrained. The non diegetic music becomes very upbeat suggesting they are becoming a lot more confident and successful.
