Bridget Jones's diary poster:

This  poster is conforming to the stereotypes of a middle aged women who hasn't found love, the objects around her are a lot of women's guilty pleasures. (Chocolate - they don't want to eat this because they are constantly worried about their weight. Wine - they don't want to drink wine because again it has a lot of calories and it is very bad for your health. Cigarettes -  they are very bad for you and they are also very expensive.) The poster does subvert to a stereotypical women because it shows she is not depending on a man and she is holding a notebook in her hand which suggests she is a working lady and is independent.

The over the head shot looking down on the actress suggests she is very vulnerable and needy. This is because the shot is directly focusing on her, she looks very guilty which also suggests she knows she is in the wrong for eating, drinking and smoking. A female audience would be able to relate to the actress because it is clear that Bridget Jones is struggling to find love and she is on her own and a lot of middle age women do struggle when it comes to finding a successful relationship.

The background is plain white which makes the actress stand out a lot more, this has been done because they want to promote the famous actress and the objects around her. This has also been done because it suggests that she has nothing else in her life except the guilty pleasures surrounding her. The title is quite petite which suggests the audience should automatically know who the actress is and what the film is about.
